DESCRIPTION:The Roseburg Area Chamber’s September 16 membership lunch program will feature a presentation on Measure 118.  Measure 118\, which will be on the November ballot\, would implement a massive new $6.8 Billion tax on sales in Oregon\, driving up costs on even staples like food and medicine for Oregon consumers. It also would make Oregon’s businesses less competitive\, eroding job growth and harming family farms and local businesses across the state.  The Roseburg Area Chamber actively opposes Measure 118. \nIf passed by Oregon voters\, Measure 118 would impose a 3% tax on businesses with gross Oregon sales over $25 million per year. The measure is essentially a gross receipts tax: It would tax sales\, not profits – and businesses would be forced to pay the tax regardless of whether they were making a large profit\, small profit\, or were losing money. \nMeasure 118’s tax would apply at every step in the production and selling process. DESCRIPTION:THE REGISTRATION/RESERVATION DEADLINE HAS PASSED.  TICKETS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE.  Tickets for the Roseburg Area Chamber’s November 18 Economic Forecast 2025 are on sale now. The EF 2025 program will review this past year and the economic impacts on our businesses\, county and state. Our expert panel of presenters will explore the issues\, political climate and specific industries and\, share their projections and insight about what business might expect in 2025.  Presenters will also discuss potential impacts resulting from November’s general election. \nLeading our panel of presenters this year is Mark McMullen\, Vice President of Policy and Research with Common Sense Institute (CSI).  Mark brings a wealth of expertise to CSI\, having served as the longest-tenured Chief Economist for the State of Oregon under three governors. \nJoining McMullen on the panel will be Jeremy Rogers\, Director of Legal Affairs & Public Policy for the Oregon REALTORS®; Nick Smith\, Executive Director for Healthy Forests and Healthy Communities (HFHC) and\, a fourth presenter TBA. \nPrior to joining Oregon REALTORS®\, Rogers spent more than a decade working with leaders in the manufacturing\, technology\, health care and energy sectors to identify and solve public policy challenges affecting business and economic development in Oregon. Smith’s background is in public policy and communications\, having worked in the Oregon Legislature in various capacities and having served several members of leadership in the House of Representatives. DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION/RESERVATION DEADLINE HAS PASSED. TICKETS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE.  The program at the chamber’s November 18 membership meeting lunch will be a presentation discussing the Exit 124/125 Interchange Area Management Plan and Garden Valley Corridor Plan.  The Oregon Department of Transportation and the City of Roseburg are working together on the plan.  For Exits 124 and 125\, an Interchange Area Management Plan (IAMP) will outline a 20-year vision for access and roadway improvements to protect the function and operations of the interchanges. The Garden Valley Corridor Plan (GVCP) will identify strategies for the City to improve safety\, mobility and connectivity so the corridor better serves our community’s needs now and into the future. See Project Flyer Here. \nAttend the chamber’s final membership meeting for 2024 and hear from project planners about the proposed plan and have the opportunity to get your questions answered. Tickets are on sale now.  Chamber membership meetings are held from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm (with the lunch buffet opening at 11:45) at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Complex in the Community Conference Hall.  Advanced online ticket purchase is required.  Tickets are not sold at the door. The last day to purchase tickets and secure attendance is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday\, November 13. The chamber’s November membership meeting lunch is generously sponsored by Pacific Power.
